2012 - Safari Mbili Desert Rose

Safari 2 days / 1 nights : Nairobi, Desert Rose

Day 1

In a morning, we meet at the Famous Aero Club in Nairobi Wilson Airport. After completing departure formalities, take off for the spectacular two hour flight into Northern Kenya, passing over the laikipia plateau, and  Karissia Hills, to kowop airstrip tucked at the Souhtern  base of Mt  Ngiro.

We will land one a bush airstrip, relax, pique nique and remove aircraft doors if you like, then take off for the most beautiful flight of your life! An amazing aerial excursion. One more journey of discovery and emotion to the south end of Lake Turkana and her Volcanoes, Naboyetom, and Teliki, where the Earth shows you her true glory. To crown this experience we fly over Lake Logipi, the lowest point in the Rift Valley, with her amazing variety of alkaline colours and flamingos. If conditions permit we might land on South Island, a black lava volcano in the South End of Lake Turkana, the Jade Sea . If conditions are good, we would land on an islands. Return flight to Mt Nyiru.
There a vehicle is waiting, for the incredible 4x4  steep drive into the heart of the sacred mountain, through the Ewaso Rongai Valley, up to  where Desert Rose,
 the charming lodge is nestled, relax, swim.  If you wish, we can go for an easy walk to a special sundowner spot .Dinner by candles on the dining deck, night at the Lodge.

Day 2

Depending on your departure time, morning at leisure ! Brunch at our riverside dining spot nearby the mountain stream, where you can enjoy an exciting rock slide to cool off.
 For those who wish we can go for a walk, or relax in the tranquil environment of the lodge. mid morning brunch and we leave for the airstrip to find our plane which will take us on a fantastic scenic leg of our journey home. A 2 hr 30 min flight back to Nairobi. Our wings will allow us to follow the edge of the Great Rift Valley, over the lunar landscape of the Suguta with it’s river, sand dunes, volcanoes, lava flows ; climbing up over the spectacular silali volcano crater, towards Lake Baringo, where we might stop if time permits. Then over the alkaline Lake of Lake  Bogoria,  and Lake Nakuru,  surrounded by a rim of pink flamingos.  Over lake Naivasha, the spectacular volcanoes of Suswa and Longonot, before arriving at the Ngong Hills and Nairobi..
These visions of landscape and colour will fill your head with memories which will serve you well as you return to the crowded cities.
We return to the Aero Club for a farewell drink before your departure.
